Spinal Rehabilitation

For the past fifteen years we have treated all forms of spinal disease at Kings Park Physical Therapy. From the patient with disc herniation and radiculopathy, to the restricted musculoskeletal and rheumatological patient. All patients have different symptoms, needs, and tolerance to exercise. Having the full resources of modality therapy, hands-on care and strengthening equipment, has given our physical therapists a full array of treatment options to best suit the needs of their patients.

Below is a list of spinal related disorders commonly treated at Kings Park Physical Therapy:

Non-Operative/Post-Operative

* Lumbo-Sacral Sprain
* Cervical / Strain
* Spinal Stenosis
* Spondylolisthesis
* Disc Degeneration
* Ankylosing Spondylitis
* Radiculopathy
* S-I Joint Dysfunction
* Laminectomy
* Discectomy
* Fusion
* Scoliotic fixations

Spinal surgeons' management of their patients is widely varied, based upon their training and philosophy. Immobilization time has been drastically reduced due to on-going advances in both spinal surgical technique and research.

As a result of these, the initiation of  therapeutic exercise programs begins earlier and expedites patients to full function and normal activities of daily living. Hands-on-care, stretching and modalities,  assist in the determination as to the level of exercises that each patient is capable of tolerating. All of this coupled with a specific  home program design has been clinically demonstrated to work best.
