Spinal surgeons' management of their patients
is widely varied, based upon their training and philosophy. Immobilization
time has been drastically reduced due to on-going advances in both spinal surgical
technique and research.
As a result of these, the initiation of
therapeutic exercise programs begins earlier and expedites patients to
full function and normal activities of daily living. Hands-on-care,
stretching and modalities, assist in the determination as to the
level of exercises that each patient is capable of tolerating. All of this
coupled with a specific home program design has been clinically
demonstrated to work best.
